Finlays Community Trust, in partnership with Browns Plantations Kenya Limited and Finlays, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 TVET Scholarship Programme. This initiative reflects the Trust’s continued commitment to expanding access to quality education and equipping young people from Bomet and Kericho Counties with practical, market-relevant skills that enhance employability and support sustainable livelihoods.
The TVET Scholarship Programme is designed to respond to the growing demand for technical skills in Kenya’s labour market while also addressing the financial barriers that prevent many talented young people from pursuing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Through this intervention, the Trust seeks to empower youth with hands-on competencies that support both formal employment and self-employment pathways, ultimately contributing to stronger, more resilient communities.
For the 2026 intake, the scholarship targets residents of Bomet and Kericho Counties who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in 2022, 2023, or 2024 and attained a minimum mean grade of D or D+. Eligible applicants must also have secured admission to either Konoin Technical Training Institute in Bomet County or Belgut Technical Training Institute in Kericho County. Successful candidates will be enrolled in Level 5 (Certificate) programmes in one of the following technical fields:
- Automotive Engineering
- Building and Construction
- Electrical Installation
- Plumbing Technology
The TVET Scholarship Programme is comprehensive in scope and includes several key support components. Successful applicants will benefit from full scholarship coverage, which removes financial barriers to accessing quality TVET education. In addition, students will gain practical attachment opportunities at Browns Plantations Kenya Limited, providing valuable hands-on industry experience and bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. The programme also includes startup toolkit support, designed to empower graduates to establish their own enterprises and contribute meaningfully to local economic development.
The application process is open and accessible. Interested candidates may obtain application forms from the Finlays Community Trust website at https://finlayscommunitytrust.co.ke/announcements/ under the Announcements section,
